Tell us a little about yourself:

My name is Christina Schutte. I grew up in the country but I currently live in the city of Calgary, AB Canada. I work as a soft developer from home (hence the nick devel).  I think I've always liked art and photography, I just didn't know how much until my husband

suggested I get a DSLR just over 2 years ago. At the time I didn't really know anything about

photography.  I had my little p&s on auto and just snapped away but once I got my camera I've been eager to learn and it has become a huge passion of mine ever since.

Are you an amateur or a pro photographer?

I am a hobbyist/enthusiast.

What do you like to photograph?

I haven't found anything that I don't like to photograph yet! Although, I have always been drawn to nature whether it's landscapes, wildlife, flora, macro.  I think because it's so quiet and peaceful to be out shooting the beauty earth has to offer, not to mention the sun has the best light.

What is in your photography kit?

Canon Rebel T2i
EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM
EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM
EF 50mm f/1.8 II
EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (kit)
EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS (kit)
Canon 430EX II flash
Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 tripod with joystick head
Joby Gorillapod
Couple camera bags

What's your favorite lens?

I love, love, love my EF 24-70mm f/2.8 USM.  On the crop body I get decent enough wide angle and zoom, while enjoying wonderful bokeh

Any favorite photographer(s)?

I can't really say I have a favorite photographer.  I have enjoyed viewing a wonderful array of talent on The World Open challenge. I also have some amazingly talented flickr friends that are an inspiration.

Which is your own favorite picture?

This is a hard question because each time I go out and get a new shot, it becomes my favorite and when I go back and look at my older shots I find myself critiquing them.  So for today, my favorite shot is a snowy landscape, with a bald headed eagle perched high in a tree, that I shot yesterday. I call it, "The View".  I converted it to black and white and love the way it turned out.

What is your dream?

I would love to travel and experience different places and cultures of this wonderful world...with

camera in hand of course! I have been to many places but have never been outside of North America and I want to so badly. There is so much to see and I've barely started.  Wouldn't it be amazing if there were peace on earth, and one could see the great pyramid among other things, without fear?  That is my dream.

Any advice or great tips to share?

Practice, practice and practice some more! Also don't be afraid to share your work. You'll be surprised at how supportive and encouraging people can be.
