Tell us a little about yourself:

My Flickr username is eeviko, and that is perhaps enough to know about naming me. I was born in Finland and lived there for twenty years until I decided to cross the sea to England, where I'm living at the moment. I think photography has always played a big part in my life, even though it didn't start as anything artistic at all. It was more about just pointing at a target and pressing the button, no changing lenses or setting white balance right. I started to play with a camera a bit more when I got into veganism, that must have been seven years ago or so, and started taking pictures of the food I made for my family. A few years later I took two photography courses at school in order to develop myself and started playing more and more with settings and angles which led me to buy a DSLR three years from now.

Are you an amateur or a pro photographer?

I'm not really sure how to classify myself but, based on my abilities, 'photo enthusiast' describes me the best.

What do you like to photograph?

This has changed a lot over time and still does. I enjoy just stepping out from the door and exploring my environment. I often focus in small details. Now in England, I've spent time photographing more urban objects and settings. I also enjoy photographing people but it is a rare luxury for me.

What is in your photography kit?

I've got Canon EOS 450D, two kit lenses (EF-S 18-55mm IS f/3.5-5.6 and EF-S 55-250mm IS f/4.0-5.6), a Manfrotto tripod and some filters. Also I know we've got a Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM lens hiding somewhere in the cupboard as it was originally supposed to be my graduation gift but it never made it to my party in Finland!

What's your favorite lens?

To be honest, I wouldn't like to answer this as I haven't spent enough time exploring different lenses yet.

Any favorite photographer(s)?

What a tricky question! Just to say two,  I love the works of Arno Rafael Minkkinen and Elina Brotherus.

Which is your own favorite picture?

I like to say most of my good photos are rubbish, and certainly one of my favourites is. It is a black and white photo of a cigarette packaging lying in grass. It was taken when I had an important changing point in my life and it feels like the photo shows how trash gets eaten by new fresh life but still remains as blurry memories.

What is your dream?

To love and feel loved. And learn more about photography, of course!

Any advice or great tips to share?

Be brave and make mistakes, you learn from them.
