Tell us a little about yourself:

Hi, I'm Rose, a retired Registered Nurse living on Long Island, New York.  I've always loved taking photos, generally of my children as they were growing up.  But during a trip to India, I decided to buy a Nikon D3000 for the trip, since film was just too expensive to manage and develop photos that were just no good.  During the trip, people just encouraged me to photograph them during the vacation and expressed that I had a good eye.

Are you an amateur or a pro photographer?

Ha Ha!! Definitely a photo enthusiast, just pure enjoyment.  No pressure.

What do you like to photograph?

n/a

What is in your photography kit?

I own a DSLR - Nikon D7000.  My kit includes a Nikor 105mm macro lens f/2.8, a 70-200mm Nikor telephoto lens f/2.8, a Nikor 35mm prime lens f/1.8, a few filters, a tripod, a mini-tripod (which I find super convenient) and a backpack to carry my entire arsenal.

What's your favorite lens?

n/a

Any favorite photographer(s)?

My favorite photographer happens to be a friend of mine who isn't on flickr very much, but on Google+.  Boris Gorelik's photographs are fabulous and sometimes are so wonderful, it gives me goosebumps.  His work can be seen at his website: www.goboris.com

Which is your own favorite picture?

My favorite photograph of mine, is a recent photograph of the large red christmas tree ornaments on Sixth Avenue in New York City, right across the street from Radio City Music Hall. I believe it shows the essence of the holidays in a busy nightlife of the City.  This is a long exposure captured with my mini tripod.

What is your dream?

My dream is to travel with my husband and enjoy our visits with great photographic opportunities.

Any advice or great tips to share?

My advice is to go out and enjoy! Practice, practice and practice after you learn a tip.
